1916 Papers of Fr. Aloysius Travers OFM Cap digitised and online at last

Recently the Digital Repository of Ireland opened a call for expressions of interest from archives which held material relating to the Decade of Centenaries and which wished to digitally preserve their holdings. Our Capuchin Provincial Archives was fortunate enough to win one of the three awards.

A meeting took place at the Archives where DRI Staff viewed material from ‘The Capuchins and the Irish Revolution’ collection. It was decided to digitise and publish the papers of Fr. Aloysius Travers OFM Cap. (1870-1957), a series from the main collection. The DRI’s Joanne Carroll photographed the objects in Trinity College Dublin whilst Kate McCarthy and Sharon Webb in the Royal Irish Academy prepared the material for upload into the Digital Repository.

We hope that this marks a beginning of making far more of our Archive materials available to the public! Watch out for more in the coming months 🙂
