Blessings on St Valentine’s Day

The over arching symbol of St Valentine’s Day is, without doubt, the heart. This heart is the symbol of love. It’s red, full and vibrant; filled with life, joy and expectation.

The Carmelite Friars in Whitefriar Street Church, Dublin are keepers of the heart of St Valentine. Each year engaged couples from all over Ireland, and in other times from all over the World, make a pilgrimage to the Shrine to ask for St Valentine’s blessing on their relationship and future marriage.

Here is a link to the Shrine where you can find out some more details on how the heart of St Valentine ended up in a Carmeilte Church in Dublin.

We ask St Valentine’s to intercede for all couples today, that your relationships may be based on mutual upbuilding and authentic love. Amen.
