Celebrating the Gift of Grandparents – 24/25 July 2021

Pope Francis has encouraged all parishes around the world to celebrate the gift of grandparents and the elderly this coming weekend. You are most welcome to join our Capuchin parishes as they mark the occasion:

Halston Street Parish, Dublin 7 will have a special blessing of grandparents at Mass on Saturday (6pm) and Sunday (12pm). Music from soloist Michelle Donnelly. Mass can be accessed on the Halston Street Parish webcam: Webcam | Halston Street Parish | Capuchin Franciscans | Dublin

St Francis of Assisi Parish, Priorswood, Dublin 17 will also have a blessing of grandparents at Mass on Saturday evening (6pm) and Sunday (9:30am and 11am). You can access a live stream of the Mass on the parish webcam: Webcam, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Priorswood. Archdiocese of Dublin (priorswoodparish.ie)

The Pope reminds of ‘the importance of grandparents and grandchildren getting to know one another, because “as the prophet Joel says, grandparents seeing their grandchildren dream,” while “young people, drawing strength from their grandparents, will go forward and prophesy.’ (https://www.vaticannews.va/…/pope-establishes-world-day…

A Prayer of Blessing for Grandparents

Heavenly Father, bless my grandparents.
Thank you for the life they gave my parents
and for the life, they give to me.
For the ways they helped me and made me strong, I give thanks.
For the ways, they love me no matter what, I rejoice.
For the ways, they have paved the road
that leads me here, I am grateful.
Let them grow in wisdom and joy in life.
Let them find peace and rest from their work.
Let them be healed of every sickness and pain.
And let them see with their own eyes your glory
and the love of their children and grandchildren.
Bless them always. Amen
