With great sadness we announce the death of our Capuchin confrere, Br. Padráig O'Cuill OFM Cap. Br Padráig joined the Capuchin Order in 1957 and was ordained to the Priesthood in 1967. During his years as a Capuchin Friar, Padráig ministered as an Irish language teacher, hospital chaplain and chaplain to Dublin Port and Docks. For many years he served as the Archivist for the Irish Capuchin Province.

Br. Padráig died peacefully in Beaumont Hospital this morning (04/02/2026) following a short illness. Padráig was a kind, helpful and cheerful man who often caused howls of laughter with his quick wit and razor sharp sense of humour. He will be very much missed in the Capuchin Friary Raheny and beyond.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Yesterday the Capuchin Day Centre distributed 4,000 Christmas vouchers to those in need. A huge work of thanks and congratulations to all invloed in putting this outreach together. And a very special thanks to the donors who make it all possible. Find our more about this work from Br Kevin Kiernan, Capuchin Director of the Day Centre who was interviewed for the RTE Morning Ireland programme:
