Night Fever comes to our Kilkenny Friary once again
With the so-called Christmas Rush upon us once again it can be hard to get space to remember the real meaning of these days. Butt behind the rush the slow gentle breathing of Advent, our time of preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas, may be heard if we become quiet enough to hear….
PCO VIII: The Grace of Working

These councils happen periodically as the friars gather to discuss different aspects of our life together, always looking for ways in which we can become more faithful to the spirit of St. Francis and be more successful in our service…
Dawn Sitting: A decaf Moment
Dawn Sitting. To sit in stillness as dawn wakes, is a sacred joy. Keeping watch as first light illumines the heart’s altar, calling it from its flickering candled dream-darkness into the now, of awake awareness; is to dwell within a daily resurrection. Sitting still I allow Divine attention to breathe blessing through me upon…
Capuchin Franciscan Vocation Weekend 4th – 6th of December, Kilkenny
What is a vocation? Who are the Capuchin Franciscans? What do they do? Why do they do it? If you have asked questions like these, maybe God is inviting you to ‘come and see’ (John 1:39) what life is like as a Capuchin Franciscan Friar. This vocation experience is open to…
Haircuts for the Homeless: A new initiative of the Capuchin Daycentre
Br. Kevin and the staff of the Capuchin Daycentre were very happy to launch a new initiative in their ongoing mission to serve the homeless and poor of Dublin this weekend when their brand new barbers/hairsalon opened off Bow St. While at first it may seem a peripheral service to offer to those who find…
Capuchins respond to International Refugee Crisis
Hearing the plea of Pope Francis for the millions of refugees and immigrants entering Europe as they flee war, persecution and poverty in their own countries our General Minister Br. Mauro recently called an emergency meeting of friars to discuss ways that the Capuchins can offer an international response to this tragedy. Our Vicar Provincial,…

With great sadness we announce the death of our Capuchin confrere, Br. Padráig O'Cuill OFM Cap. Br Padráig joined the Capuchin Order in 1957 and was ordained to the Priesthood in 1967. During his years as a Capuchin Friar, Padráig ministered as an Irish language teacher, hospital chaplain and chaplain to Dublin Port and Docks. For many years he served as the Archivist for the Irish Capuchin Province.
Br. Padráig died peacefully in Beaumont Hospital this morning (04/02/2026) following a short illness. Padráig was a kind, helpful and cheerful man who often caused howls of laughter with his quick wit and razor sharp sense of humour. He will be very much missed in the Capuchin Friary Raheny and beyond.

Last year Br Antony Kurian was ordained to the Priesthood for the Irish Capuchin Province. This weekend, The Irish Times Newspaper featured the story of Antony's path to ordination.
We believe the Lord continues to call men to join us as Capuchin Franciscan Friars. It takes certain amount of courage to hear and respond this call in a noisey world however it's a call that can only be answered by you. Contact us for more information on our way of life: vocations@capuchins.ie
